Acoustic bass, taught properly
The acoustic bass guitar gives you the warmth and portability of an acoustic with the familiar feel and scale of an electric bass — play it unplugged anywhere, or plug in when you need to.
Our online acoustic bass lessons build the fundamentals: clean right- and left-hand technique, a full, even tone, solid timing and lines that hold a song together whether you are on a sofa or on a stage.
No wasted exercises. Just the technique and touch that make the instrument sing acoustically — explained clearly and taught step by step.

These lessons are ideal if you:

Play electric bass and want a warm, portable acoustic to play unplugged
Write songs and want a bass you can grab and play anywhere
Want live feedback on your right-hand tone, touch and timing
Prefer structured one-to-one lessons rather than random YouTube videos

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Acoustic Bass Lessons — your questions
What is the difference between an acoustic bass and an upright bass?
An acoustic bass guitar is a large, flat-top instrument with frets, held and played just like an electric bass. The upright (double) bass is the tall, fretless orchestral instrument you play standing. We teach both — this page is the acoustic bass guitar; see our upright bass lessons for the double bass.
Can I use an acoustic-electric bass plugged in?
Yes. Many acoustic basses have a built-in pickup, and we cover how to get a good amplified tone — pickup choice, EQ and controlling feedback — as well as a full sound unplugged.
Is the acoustic bass guitar harder to play than an electric?
The body is bigger and the strings usually want a slightly firmer touch, but the layout is the same as an electric bass. We build relaxed, efficient technique so it stays comfortable and sounds full.
Do I need to read music to learn acoustic bass?
No. We teach using shapes, grooves and feel you can see and hear. If you want to add reading bass clef or theory alongside it, we can — but it is never a barrier to starting.
Can acoustic bass really be taught online?
Yes. Acoustic bass is about hand technique, tone and timing — all of which come across clearly over live video. Your teacher can see both hands, hear your acoustic tone and guide you in real time.
