Beginner bass lessons, done properly

Starting an instrument as an adult should feel encouraging, not intimidating. The bass is one of the most rewarding places to begin — you make music that matters from very early on.

Our beginner online bass lessons start from the very first note: how to hold the bass, what each hand does, and how to make a clean, good sound. Calm, clear and step by step.

We build the right habits from day one, so you progress steadily and never feel lost.

These lessons are ideal if you:

  • Have never picked up a bass and want to start properly

  • Tried teaching yourself and want real structure and feedback

  • Are an adult learner who wants patient, clear guidance

  • Want to build good habits from the very first lesson

  • Prefer one-to-one attention over generic beginner videos

What you will work on

  • Holding the bass and relaxed, correct posture
  • Right-hand fingerstyle technique and a clean tone
  • Left-hand fingering, one finger per fret
  • Your first notes, scales and simple grooves
  • Playing in time — the bassist's core job
  • Simple songs you will actually recognise
  • Good habits that make everything later easier

Step by step, at your pace.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, we build a clear plan that helps you sound cleaner, groove better and play with confidence.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Beginner Bass Lessons — your questions

I have never played any instrument. Can I still learn bass?

Absolutely — that is exactly who these lessons are for. We start from the very beginning and move at your pace. Many students play a simple, satisfying groove within their first few lessons.

Am I too old to start the bass?

No. The bass is one of the best instruments to start as an adult — the fundamentals are approachable and you make real music quickly. We specialise in teaching adult beginners.

What bass and gear do I need to start?

Any working bass, a device with a camera and a stable internet connection is enough to begin. We are happy to advise on a first bass and a small practice amp if you do not have one yet.

Do I need to read music?

No. We teach using shapes, grooves and feel you can see and hear. If you would like to learn to read bass clef later, we can add it — but it is never a barrier to starting.

Can a beginner really learn bass online?

Yes. For beginners, having a teacher watch your hands and correct you early is exactly what live video provides. Your teacher sees your technique clearly and guides you step by step.
