Electric Bass Lessons — your questions
I am a complete beginner. Is electric bass a good place to start?
Yes — the electric bass is one of the most rewarding instruments to begin on. We start from the very first note: how to hold it, how each hand works, and how to make a clean sound. You will be playing simple lines that groove within your first few lessons.
Should I play fingerstyle or with a pick?
Both belong on the electric bass, and the choice shapes your sound. We build clean technique on whichever you prefer first, then add the other so you can choose the right feel for each song.
I play guitar already. Can I switch to bass easily?
Yes, and your fretboard knowledge will help. The main shift is musical — bass is about time, note choice and space, not filling every gap. We use what you already have and focus on thinking and playing like a bassist.
Do I need to read music to learn electric bass?
No. We teach using shapes, grooves and feel you can see and hear. If you want to add reading bass clef or theory alongside it, we can — but it is never a barrier to starting.
Can electric bass really be taught online?
Yes. Electric bass depends on hand technique, timing and tone — all of which come across clearly over live video. Your teacher can see both hands, hear your groove and correct you in real time.
